| Terence Reis (Vocals & Guitars) | ![]() |
|
Of English, Portuguese, Welsh, Irish and Australian descent, Terence Reis (“Reis” pronounced to rhyme with “beige”) grew up in the then Lourenço Marques (now called Maputo) in Moçambique. The family eventually moved to Blantyre in Malawi before moving countries yet again, this time to Johannesburg, South Africa. An honours graduate of the University of Witwatersrand School of Dramatic Arts, Terence began an award-winning career as a professional freelance actor and voice artist. A parallel career as a singer, songwriter and guitarist has seen him playing, writing, singing for and fronting various bands before forming Waterhorse after having moved to Canterbury in the UK. If it interests you at all, Terence is a Sagittarian… his birthday is on the 27th of November. He has no pets but many favourite colours. |

| Sarah Nicholls (Vocals) | ![]() |
|
Sarah has been singing for years, and has been taking classical vocal training since the age of fourteen. Plenty of charity variety shows later, she formed a duo with her best friend from school, found a manager, wrote some better than average songs and waited patiently for the magic to happen. After a lot of overly complicated contract negotiation, the duo decided that eating and earning a living was marginally more favourable! They disbanded and set about working like all normal people. Choosing the fitness industry meant that Sarah could still stand up in front of a bunch of people and hold their attention for at least an hour at a time. She got her performance fix and the opportunity to cause pain to the bums, legs and tums of the rest of the female species. (Somebody had to pay for the fact that she was no longer singing!). Sarah's influences are incredibly varied; from her father’s taste in British heavy rock music, to her mother’s John Denver, her brother’s 90's house phase and her own R&B/Hip Hop preferences! Quite a mixture by anyone’s standards! Singing with Waterhorse offers Sarah the chance to be musically disciplined with the use of harmonies, and allows her to be part of something organic rather than factory mass-produced. She hopes for great things for the band and that the guys may be her salvation from lycra-clad hell! |

| Emily Wassell (Violin & Vocals) | ![]() |
|
Emily has been playing the violin and piano since the age of five and started the viola, now her instrument of preference, at the age of twelve. A member of Kent County Youth Orchestra and given the opportunity to play with them in the Royal Albert Hall in 2001, Emily was also in an elite singing octet at St. Edmunds School where she was a music scholar. Since 2003, Emily has been studying the viola at Trinity College of Music with Liz Turnbull and Richard Crabtree where she has led the viola section of their Sinfonia orchestra. Aside from orchestral playing, Emily also enjoys playing with various string quartets. This has included playing for, and meeting, the Queen whilst she had lunch in Canterbury on her golden jubilee, and playing for the press day at the Chelsea Flower Show. Emily has been fortunate to travel with her music taking her to the likes of Canada, Italy and Spain, to name but a few destinations. Nowadays, Emily is a freelance orchestral and chamber musician and a violin/viola teacher for Kent Music School. When she’s not playing her instruments, Emily enjoys adrenaline sports, such as skydiving and paragliding and loves to travel. She can sometimes be found in the wilderness on a horse in her bid to become a Montana ranch cowgirl! |

| Dudley Ross (Guitars) | ![]() |
|
Dudley was born in Margate and brought up by an extremely musical family. At the age of seven he began to play the cello, took several grades and gained valuable musical skills and performance experience. For many years Dudley was very keen to learn the electric guitar but it wasn't until his sixteenth birthday that he got his hands on his first electric guitar and since then has never put it down. He gained inspiration from players such as Jimi Hendrix, BB King, SRV, Frank Zappa, Steve Vai, John Coltrane and Miles Davis. Interested in many different styles he set out to try and replicate his favourite players to help him become a versatile and open-minded guitarist/musician. Dudley has over ten years of playing and composing experience, which has included performing on live TV, working in musicals (Chess, Grease, and The Wizard of Oz to name but a few), touring with numerous bands and doing all sorts of sessions for many acts and producers from Chris Tsangarides (Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy, Anthem, Yngwie Malmsteen & many more) to Jezz Wetherall, TV and show composer/director. Dudley teaches on the degree course at Canterbury Christ Church University, as well as teaching at Yamaha Music School, Canterbury. |

| Chris Cassar (Bass) | ![]() |
|
Chris stumbled into playing bass in his last couple of years at secondary school when a group of friends found themselves a bassist short of a band! Within a few months he’d learnt the basics and was performing with the ‘house band’ for school shows and was already playing in pubs with his band by the time he’d started his GCSE’s! Self-taught apart from a few handy hints passed on by his guitarist brother, Chris took a year out after school to hone his skills and continue gigging with a handful of bands before continuing his education. The following year saw Chris enrol at Mid-Kent College for a ‘Popular Music & Music Tech' course. Two years on and some qualifications later, Chris went on to attend The University of Kent to study music at degree level; all the while building a solid reputation as a session player and a reliable dep. It was during this time Chris spent a lot of time working ‘in the pit’ on a number of shows such as; West Side Story, Grease, Little Shop of Horrors, and a host of pantomimes and local theatre productions. Since graduating, Chris has worked across the UK and Europe with some of the country’s top musicians, performers, songwriters and producers. |

| Paul Townsend (Drums, Percussion & Vocals) | ![]() |
|
| A graduate of Christ Church College, along with Dudley Ross, Paul has been playing drums since the age of thirteen. His musical journey has seen highlights such as the
premier performance of Ethan Lewis Maltby's Noise Ensemble at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2004, the Operababes concert performance in Beirut, Fame - The Musical in Cyprus and Ethan Lewis
Maltby’s Courtenay. His early school band trips gave him a taste for touring, visiting Paris, Florida and New Providence Island in the Bahamas. He was also in the live band that played at
the finale of the Big Breakfast competition, “Housey Housey”, in which contestants could win a replica of the Big Breakfast House.
He now combines playing both drums and percussion (usually timpani) professionally, with teaching and working in one of the few music shops that does not sell guitars, drums or keyboards, which he finds a refreshing change. Paul uses Roland V-Drums when playing live with Waterhorse but you may also find him beating Yamaha® drums, a Ludwig® snare drum, Pearl® pedals and an unholy mix of cymbals that are selected to sound good, not because of the name on them. |
